Hi 👋🏻
I'm Anirban.
I've never built a unicorn or raised millions, and I'm perfectly happy with that.
I've always wanted something different: a lean business that gives me ownership of my time.
I've never had a traditional job, and I don't intend to. I'd rather spend my life building ideas I believe in than helping build someone else's.
Over the years, I've tried plenty of things. Hockey, football, chess. The experience I'm most proud of is my time in the NCC, which taught me discipline, resilience and teamwork.
Outside work, you'll usually find me climbing rocks, trekking through the mountains, or exploring places that rarely make it onto tourist maps.
Today I'm focused on building two things. My newsletter, where I write about business and creativity, and Untrails, an activity-led travel company I'm building with Shagufta.
That's enough to keep me busy, and exactly how I like it.

Why I left them
Most of those projects taught me one thing: there was a huge gap between what I wanted and how I was building it.
I didn't enjoy chasing clients, managing teams or constantly looking for the next opportunity.
I realised I wasn't looking to build the biggest business. I wanted to build one that gave me ownership of my time.
That's why I walked away from agencies and freelancing, and chose a different path: writing, media and long-term businesses.
Today, I'm focused on building Insideletter and Untrails.

When I'm away from my desk, you'll usually find me somewhere in the mountains.
I document those journeys through Mileswithanirban, my Bengali travel channel, where I share offbeat places, trekking adventures and stories from across the Himalayas.
It's where I slow down, explore and remind myself why I chose to build life on my own terms.
